DVD to AVI Conversion
Many programs are available that can allow you to backup your DVD movies to your computer. The most common form of backup file is the .AVI file, which can hold an entire movie by itself with low file size but high quality. AVI files typically use DivX or Xvid codecs to create the movies. AVI files are probably the most common type of movie file that exists for storing large movie files. They are so common that many DVD player manufacturers include support for them, so you can play them on your TV (if you have the right buring software). An excellent piece of software developed my Movavi to do this kind of thing is the Movavi Videosuite. It can actually do much more than just convert DVD to AVI files (it can also burn, and edit movies and more). It is a complete video editing tool that is used personally as well as professionally by thousands of people. Using Movavi Videosuite, there are only a few simple steps you need to take to backup DVD to AVI: 1. Run the Videosuite, click the DVD button and Add DVD. This will allow you to backup everything on the DVD. Choose the correct IFO or VOB files that you wish to copy. 2. Select the correct audio track for the movie. 3. Choose output format as AVI (DivX, Xvid, etc) 4. Select the place on your hard drive to save the movie after conversion. 5. Click convert to begin the DVD to AVI conversion. You can use this method to store many DVDs on one disk if you like. DVDs are converted down to as little as 1/4 or 1/5 their original size but still maintain good quality, so you can reburn 4 or 5 movies to a single DVD-R disc and store more movies on less disks. Only backup movies that you are allowed to back up! Those are movies that you have originally purchased to watch. You are allowed to keep a single backup copy if something happens to the original.
