Niche Revisited
Write a book on marketing, sell it on eBay, make a profit and three days later 40 people will have stolen the contents of your ad, written a knock off e-book, and started makingmoney for themselves. If you don’t believe me, try it. There are ways to stand out in the crowd though: • Write a better ad and put a copyright on it warning that you will take action if copycats use it.
• Let your feedback stand for itself and make sure to emphasize this in your listing. Or you can write a niche product like the CB750 resource book. I never had a competitor for two years. My sales were never through the roof but they were steady and always there. Remember that if you write about something that interests you, you will eventually find other people who are interested also. Here are some signs that you should start writing an niche product related to your interest: • You spend an hour searching on Google for information regarding your interest, but never find it.
• You have a folder in your bookmarks file devoted to it and guard these links with your life.
• The one paperback book you have on the subject is dog-eared and written in. It seems that this had to be repeated over and over to me until I got it. Finally when I experienced the results myself, it stuck with me. “Write what you know.” But don’t stop with what you know. Write what people always ask you about. Things that you may be expert in, but never really thought about. Things that are easy for you but seem hard for others. Maybe you have found a new process that nobody else has ever thought of. |
