So choose one who has sufficient experience of dealing in divorce cases that have gone before a judge, as they will fully understand all the legal requirements and procedures. If they are willing to arrange for them to provide you with any kinds of testimonials or references from clients who they have acted for before. This will then provide you with further proof and comfort knowing just how good they are at what they do, especially during a time that is going to place additional stress on you. 4. The next step when it comes to finding the right person to act for you is to get them to provide details of their charges. It is important that you ask this question so you are not left in a situation where you have to let them go simply because you can not afford them any longer when only half way through your divorce proceedings. If they are unwilling to provide you with this information then simply go to another one instead. But even if you do find a lawyer and what he charges seems less expensive than many others this may not always be the best option. Yes shopping around is a good idea, but a lawyer with experience and who charges more is going to help you more than one with little or no experience and who is cheaper. 5. At the end of the day it is crucial to remember that the person you choose is someone you will be putting a large amount of trust into in order that everything goes as smoothly as possible. If you find that you do not feel comfortable with discussing any issues or feel that you will not be able to discuss anything of importance with them. Then it is best to try another lawyer instead. Although you do not have to be friends with your divorce lawyer, it would help if you have a good relationship with them.
